Lexus India has officially entered the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment in the country with the launch of the all-new Lexus ES500e. The luxury electric sedan was unveiled in New Delhi and is priced at ₹89,99,000 (ex-showroom). Bookings for the vehicle have opened across Lexus Guest Experience Centres nationwide.
With this launch, Lexus becomes one of the few global luxury brands to introduce a dedicated BEV platform in the Indian market. The company positions the ES500e as a premium electric offering that combines advanced technology, sustainability, and comfort for luxury buyers.
Battery, Range and Performance Specifications
The Lexus ES500e is powered by a newly developed 74.68 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It delivers a maximum system output of 252 kW and is certified by ARAI for a driving range of up to 580 km on a single charge.
In terms of performance, the electric sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. It also supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW. Under ideal battery temperature conditions of around 25 degrees Celsius, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.
The ES500e is offered only in an all-wheel-drive configuration. Its dimensions include a length of 5,145 mm, width of 1,920 mm, height of 1,575 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The sedan runs on 21-inch tyres sized at 235/45R21.
Platform, Suspension and Driving Dynamics
The electric sedan is built on Toyota’s TNGA GA-K platform, which Lexus says provides enhanced structural rigidity and reduced vibrations. This platform is designed to improve steering response and overall driving dynamics.
The suspension setup includes MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. This marks the first time a multi-link rear suspension has been used in the ES model line.
Power delivery is managed through Lexus’ DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system. The system integrates front and rear eAxles and aims to optimise traction, handling stability, and efficiency across different road conditions.
Exterior Design Inspired by Future BEV Concepts
The ES500e follows Lexus’ Clean Tech x Elegance design philosophy. Its styling draws inspiration from the LF-ZC next-generation BEV concept. The sedan features what the brand calls a Provocative Simplicity design theme, highlighted by a flowing silhouette and a new-generation Spindle body.
At the front, the car gets a Twin L-Signature lamp design, while the rear features a single light bar integrating the taillight, stoplight, and illuminated Lexus logo. The body tapers towards the rear to create a low centre-of-gravity stance.
Customers can choose from five exterior colours:

Interior Features and Cabin Technology
Inside, the cabin reflects Lexus’ Time is Luxury concept, which focuses on refined aesthetics and comfort. The cockpit includes a uniquely shaped 12.3-inch digital display and a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen.
The interior uses suede materials, ambient lighting, and Micro Geo pattern detailing. Lexus has also introduced surface-illuminated door trim for the first time in any of its models. A Mark Levinson Surround Sound System with optimised speaker placement and 3D audio is part of the cabin setup.
Interior colour choices include Hazel and White. The vehicle also features automatic and easy door closure for all four doors and a powered boot lid.
Connected Technology and Smart Features
The ES500e includes connected car features accessible through the Lexus India app. Owners can monitor battery status, check driving range, schedule charging sessions, and review charging history remotely.
Remote cabin climate activation allows users to control air conditioning, seat heating, and seat ventilation before entering the car. The system supports smartphone and smartwatch connectivity.
Other connected features include live vehicle tracking and an integrated emergency call function.
Lexus has also introduced Responsive Hidden Switches in the ES500e. These touch-sensitive controls remain invisible when not in use, contributing to a cleaner dashboard design.
Safety Systems and Driver Assistance Features
The sedan comes equipped with the latest Lexus Safety System+. This package includes a range of driver-assistance technologies designed to enhance safety and convenience.
Key features include:
- Pre-Collision System and Auto Emergency Braking
- Lane Departure Alert and Lane Tracing Assist
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
- Adaptive High Beam System
- Drive Monitoring Camera
Additional safety systems include a Blind Spot Monitor and a Panoramic View Monitor with a new 3D view function.
Ownership Benefits, Warranty and Charging Support
Lexus is offering the ES500e with an 8-year or 200,000-km vehicle and battery warranty. The company states that this is the first such coverage offered in India’s luxury car segment, subject to terms and conditions.
Customers will also receive a 5-year roadside assistance programme covering towing, taxi services, onsite mobile charging, and transportation to the nearest dealership or charging station.
The electric sedan is supplied with a 2.8 kW portable charger and an 11 kW home charger. It supports both AC and DC fast charging options.
Lexus is also offering an Assured Buyback Programme with low EMI options and a guaranteed future residual value. Service packages under the Lexus Luxury Care scheme are available for different durations and mileage limits.
Lexus ES Legacy and Future Plans
The ES nameplate has been in production since 1989 and is currently sold in more than 80 countries. In India, Lexus entered the market in March 2017 and offers five models.
The locally produced ES 300h hybrid has been the brand’s top-selling model in the country. Lexus has also indicated that a hybrid version of the new ES generation is expected to be announced later in 2026.
Conclusion
The launch of the Lexus ES500e marks Lexus India’s official entry into the battery electric vehicle segment. With a claimed range of 580 km, advanced safety technologies, connected features, and an extended battery warranty, the electric sedan aims to strengthen the brand’s presence in the luxury mobility space.
This development reflects the growing focus on electrification among premium automotive brands in India. As more luxury manufacturers introduce electric models, the ES500e represents a significant step in expanding the choices available to buyers seeking electric vehicles in the high-end segment.
